Reports of a terror attack at the Port of Calais have been quashed.
Heavy police presence and the military at the border sparked talks on Twitter of a possible terror attack or controlled explosion.
But P&O Ferries at Dover have denied it.
A spokesman confirmed there was a "security scare" at the border but it has been dealt with, with services running as normal
Speculation started after BBC weather presenter and meteorologist Simon King tweeted from the scene.
He claims he was told by officials that there had been a terrorist attack and later described seeing a blue smashed up at passport control.
Others reported hearing two explosions.
Kent Police would not comment.
