Smoking in pregnancy worse than national average

More women smoke in Dover during pregnancy and more children under 15 are not in good health than the national average, according to the latest health survey.

But the report, by the Association of Public Health Observatories, shows that there is less adult binge drinking, less child tooth decay and GCSE achievement is better.

The health of people in Dover is said to be generally close to the England average.

Smoking in pregnancy, physically active children, under 15-year-olds not in good health and people diagnosed with diabetes appear worse.

There are inequalities within Dover by location and gender.

For example, men from the least deprived areas can expect to live almost four years longer than those from the most deprived areas.
