Two people were left knee high in water as heavy rain today caused havoc.

Firefighters were called to help the pair in two separate cars, which broke down in floodwater in Minnis Lane, River.

There were also a fallen tree blocking the road.

A Kent Fire and Rescue Service spokesman said: "Crews moved the tree and pulled the cars out of the water, allowing them to be reached by breakdown recovery vehicles."

One fire engine was called out at exactly 11.27am and the crew's task was finished by 12.49pm.

The incident was part of wider mayhem from constant heavy rain and strong winds.
