Over a thousand homes were left without power in Dover this morning due to a faulty cable.
The power cut happened just after 4am when 1,421 residents woke up to darkness in the Folkestone Road area, due to a fault with a high-voltage underground electricity cable.
UK Power Networks engineers restored supplies to 516 customers four minutes later, with 348 customers having power again by 4.55am and 413 being switched back on by 7am.
The final 144 were without power till 8.28am.
A spokesman for UK Power Networks said: “We appreciate how difficult it can be to lose power and would like to apologise for the inconvenience caused by this incident.”
