Three migrants were picked up in a tugboat in the English Channel last night.

The boat was found 16.5km from the French Coast last night.

After entering English waters, Border Force rescued them.

Yesterday, 40 migrants were picked up throughout the day.

The Home Office said efforts to tackle people smugglers is being stepped up.
