Diversion routes have been put in place after the A2 was closed in both directions due to a lorry fire.

Fire crews are at the scene of the blaze in Jubilee Way near the Port of Dover between the A258 Duke of York Roundabout and the A20 Eastern Docks Roundabout.

Highways England says the lorry involved in the incident was transporting timber and diversion routes are in place.

Motorists travelling towards the port are being told to follow the route marked with a sold circle symbol on road signs.

Traffic is being diverted at the Duke of York Roundabout onto the A258 towards Dover and Castle Hill Road.

Prior to the junction with A256 Woolcomber Street / Maison Dieu Road, it will turn south into St James Street.

From St James Street it will then turn left on to A256 Woolcomber Street and travel towards the junction with the A20.

Meanwhile, westbound and northbound traffic travelling away from the port is being told to follow the route marked with a solid square symbol on road signs.

Traffic will exit the Eastern Docks onto the A20 Town Wall Street westbound and travel to the York Street junction - turning right into York Street (A256).

Motorists will then travel north to the Priory Street Roundabout and take the second exit on to Priory Road (A256).

Then stay on the A256 until the mini-roundabout with Whitfield Hill and take the second exit to remain on the A256 Whitfield Hill.

Continue on this road to join the A2 at the Whitfield Roundabout.

National Highways says "delays are likely on approach to the closure and diversion routes".
