Flood alerts have been issued along the Kent coast stretching from Ramsgate to Folkestone.

The Environment Agency says people should be prepared for roads near the sea and low lying areas to flood from tomorrow lunchtime as a result of high spring tides and strong winds.

It will affect towns between Ramsgate to Kingsdown and from St Margaret's at Cliffe to Folkestone and Sandgate along the tidal Stour.

The tides will be at their highest between 12:00pm and 12:30pm.

The Environment Agency says it is closely monitoring the situation and its incident response teams are prepared to respond if required.

Canterbury City Council has also warned that some floodgates will be closed as a precautionary measure.

It said: "The 1.30pm tide tomorrow and the 2am tide on Monday will be higher than predicted.

"The southerly wind will swing northerly causing a wind driven surge, so we will be closing some of our floodgates."
