Anne, Princess Royal, visits Wetwheels South East in Dover

A power boating charity for the disabled was honoured with a Royal visit.

Princess Anne arrived at Wetwheels South East in Dover last Thursday.

She was accompanied by her husband, Vice Admiral Sir Tim Laurence.

A spokesman for Wetwheels South East said: "We were privileged to welcome a visit from The Princess Royal to see our work and the dedication from our team of volunteers."

The VIPs were met by Geoff Holt, founder and trustee of the Wetwheels Foundation and chairman Andy Fell.

Stuart Bishop, directo of Wetwheels South East, introduced the Princess Royal to Doug Bannister, chief executive of the Port of Dover and Jenny Beacon, internal communications and corporate social responsibility executive.

The special guests toured the Wetwheels base at Dover Sea Sports Centre on the Esplanade, viewed its vessels and also chatted to users of the service.

They also spoke to members of beneficiary groups such as Sue Clarke,chairman of Pegasus Playscheme. This Dover group provides a three-week summer playscheme for children with disabilities.

Wetwheels South East provides power boating experiences for the disabled and disadvantaged.

They provide wheelchair access and even allow users to be the skipper.
