Animal park bosses are searching for a missing parrot which disappeared after it was caught up in a cross-wind.

The galah cockatoo was taking part in a freeflying session at Wingham Wildlife Park, near Canterbury, when it was blown off course by strong gusts.

Handlers were only able to track the exotic bird - which is part of the parrot species - for a short while.

An appeal has now been posted on the park's Facebook page in the hope someone has seen the pink and grey bird.

It reads: "Sadly one of our cockatoos flew a little high and got caught up in a cross wind.

"We followed it for a while however lost track of it, so if anyone sees this gorgeous pink and grey parrot please do let us know.

"They're tough little birds but we want to get it back here with its mates where we know it's safe and sound."

The exotic bird, native to Australia, has a silver ring on one if its legs with WWP stamped on it.
