Teen arrested after fire at Charlton Shopping Centre in Dover

A fire at a shopping centre car park in Dover has turned in to an arson investigation.

Police revealed that a teenager has been arrested and four cars ended up alight.

Four fire engines and a height vehicle were sent to tackle the blaze at the Charlton Shopping Centre car park in Dover.

A Kent Police spokesman said: "Detectives are investigating an incident of arson at a car park.

"Kent Fire and Rescue Service also attended the scene where four cars were alight.

"A 14-year-old boy was arrested on suspicion of arson with intent to endanger life and has since been released pending further enquiries."

Firefighters were called out to the blaze at exactly 3.33pm last Thursday.

Crews wearing breathing apparatus put out the flames and there were no reported injuries.

They were at the scene until just before 5pm.

The multi-storey car park is just behind the shopping centre in Dover High Street.
