A St Margaret’s Primary School pupil has won a district photography competition.
Pictures by Noah Elliott, aged 9, triumphed in the Dover heat of the 2020 Rotary Young Photographer Competition.
It is organised in this area by South Foreland Rotary Club, with this year’s theme ‘Through My Eyes’. Youngsters had to submit a portfolio of three photographs.
Three other pupils from St Margaret’s Primary School were commended: Betsy Robinson-Stevens, aged 8, was runner-up; Layla Hatton also 8, was third; and Hatty Parnell, 9, won the Gerry Costa Award for the best overall picture in the competition,
given in memory of the former Dover photographer and club member.
Judges were Dover photographers Olivia Coad and Alexa Kelly and former Mercury editor Graham Smith.
Noah, Betsy, Layla and Hatty, plus all the other entrants, were given certificates by club president Janet Dagys at a presentation evening held the Marina Hotel in Dover, where the winning photos were displayed.
Noah’s entry will now go forward to the Rotary District (South East England) competition, with winners going to the national contest.
Information about the 2021 Young Photographer Competition will be available from September, with details sent to schools in the area and appearing on the club website rotaryindover.com/rotaryclubofsouthforelandhomepage.
