There is heavy traffic in and around the Port of Dover this afternoon - with those hoping to catch a ferry warned of delays in excess of 90 minutes to board.

Boxing Day is traditionally an in-demand day, with ferry bosses insisting even those who miss their booked vessel will be put on the next available crossing.

The Port of Dover is reporting “heavy traffic” and delays of an hour in the buffer zone - the area leading up to the border control posts.

Services are continuing to run and crossing times are not affected.
