FANS with more than football as their goal will be met with a strong police presence throughout Dover on Saturday when The Crabble hosts the Margate-Cardiff FA Cup tie.

Area Chief Inspector David Cartwright, Inspector Martin Bradley, events co-ordinator Pc Roger Newson and Margate chairman Jim Parmenter have been thrashing out the details of the operation.

Dover Football Club Chairman Mick Kemp said: "The fans will definitely be segregated and they'll be taken care of in a small area at the Dover end of the ground.

"There will also be a large police presence and I know The Crickets, the Eagle and several other pubs are closing so it could have quite disruptive for the town.

"It's really due to the reputation of the Cardiff fans - not the 850 that have bought tickets but the ones that travel with them. There's a hard core following and I understand that there has been an Internet connection with Gillingham and Millwall fans - I don't know what they breed in Wales but these are not Welsh Lambs."

The kicks off at 1pm.
