Black Friday shoppers caused chaos in Tesco in Whitfield on Thursday evening, as bargain hunters squabbled over goods.
This video, captured by Paul Cassam at 11.57pm, shows three grown women and a man squabbling over the last 32 inch Blaupunkt HD Ready 720p LED TV with freeview, which was on sale for a bargain £99.
Shoppers swarmed into the store as soon as the cut-price item went on sale, ransacking the shelves with many people trying to get away with buying more than one.
Paul Cassam, who was in store at the time to pick up some groceries, said: “I was totally disgusted to see grown adults fighting and abusing each other over a TV.
“They were swearing at each other to let go of the TV they was holding on to. The boxes were getting torn as they struggled with each other.
“It went on for at least 30 minutes.”
He added: "There were about 50 TVs [on sale] and I managed to get one after all the chaos."
It is believed police were called but did not attend the store.
This was not the only Tesco in the country which experienced problems on Black Friday - a US business promotion which is fast becoming a major UK shopping day.
Police were called to places in Dundee, Glasgow, Cardiff and London.
Greater Manchester Police attended seven Tesco shops, at which three men were arrested and a woman was hit by a falling television.
