Fire crews were called last night to a bungalow blaze in Whitfield that started in a rear bedroom.
Two fire engines arrived at the scene in Archers Court Road, at 8.15pm and attacked the flames through the window using a hose reel jet.
A breathing apparatus team tackled the fire internally using a second hose reel.
The blaze was extinguished just before 9pm, and no one was injured.
The cause of the fire has not yet been confirmed, but it is believed to have been started by an electrical appliance.
