A woman has died after falling from a dual carriageway flyover into the Port of Dover.

The A2 Jubilee Way was closed in both directions between the A258 Duke of York's roundabout and the A20 in Dover following the incident.

Emergency services were called to the scene, together with the air ambulance.

But a police spokesman said this afternoon the woman died at the scene after falling into the port below the carriageway.

A spokesman for Kent, Surrey and Sussex Air Ambulance said: "At 1.13pm today the air ambulance was called to an incident in Dover."

Enquiries are ongoing to identify the woman and establish the circumstances of her death.

Highways England tweeted at about 4.40pm that both sides of the road were reopened.
