One of the men accused of killing a chef during a kinky clingfilm bondage session suggested his body be buried or burned, it was alleged this morning.
Alun Williams, 47, died after being wrapped up like a mummy in a flat above a Dover hairdressers salon in East Street.
But Richard Bowler, one of the men who has denied manslaughter, told a police officer how he and his carer David Connor got scared after finding the chef dead.
He told PC Martin Dale that Connor told him: “'Maybe bury him or set fire to him' and I said don’t be stupid.”
Bowler, 35, who suffers from cerebral palsy and Connor, 23, both of Sturry Road, Canterbury, have denied charges of causing his manslaughter.
The jury at Canterbury Crown Court heard how Mr Williams – who lived with a female partner in Shepherdswell – was known as “Bondage Ken” after advertising on gay websites.
On one of the sites, police officers discovered under a profile of “Bondage Kent" a naked picture of Mr Williams trussed up on a bed.
Prosecutor Ian Hope told the court that an external hard drive was found in Mr Williams’ Renault which showed he had a long-standing interest in gay sex, sadomasochism, including mummification.
“Alun Williams used the Internet profile entitled ‘Bondage Kent’. The profile was active on a gay social networking site, providing men with opportunities to meet others for sex.
“Images from the profile showed Mr Williams lying naked, face down upon a bed, tied up with apparent slap marks to his buttocks.
“His profile declared interest in bondage, hoods, gags and mummification and described him as passive and wishing to be used and abused.”
The jury heard how the head chef with P&O in Dover had been friends with Mr Bowler for five years and had met for sex sessions.
In August he arrived and had gone upstairs at Bowler’s flat where he was bound in Clingfilm and PVC and a hood.
Bowler later told police what happened, saying: “I took Alun upstairs and put Clingfilm around him and he did happen to say that he wanted clingfilm around his head.
“I did a hole around his nose and his mouth and I said: ‘Do you want a hood on?’ and he said: ‘Yes.’
“Then he took his K (ketamine) and I asked him if he wanted to be totally mummified and he said yes. He liked that sort of thing. I laid him on the bed. He was a bit out of it but he was breathing. He liked being spanked.
“Dave spanked him on the a*** with a leather paddle. Alun said he liked that, “ it was alleged.

After performing a sex act on Mr Williams with a “strap-on”, Bowler is alleged to have added: “I said I was quite knackered so I came down (stairs) and Dave came down as well.”
Mr Dale, who has since retired from the Kent Force, claimed that Bowler then told him: “We left him to sleep and I went up there about an hour later and shook him. I thought he was sleeping. He was not moving, so I cut him and did CPR.
“Dave and I got scared and he said maybe bury him or set fire to him. And I said: ‘Don’t be stupid’ and I said we have got to call the police and the ambulance.
“I have got to admit that we should have probably called you (the police) a couple of hours ago but because of my cerebral palsy I got a bit confused.
“I should have called you a couple of hours ago but it was a genuine accident. He took his ‘K’ and he wanted mummification. It was a kinky sex session which went wrong.”
The trial continues.
