A man who was caught on CCTV burgling a house has been jailed for more than three years.
Kyle Thatcher was filmed breaking into the rural property, and being inside it, and was arrested two days later.
Thatcher, aged 26, of no fixed address, pleaded guilty and was sentenced on Tuesday last week.
The break-in was in Hougham, near Dover, on Thursday, April 12.
Police were called by a neighbour who had seen a man, later identified by officers as Thatcher, with a bag running away from the property.
Another neighbour saw Thatcher drop a number of items that were later recovered by officers and had been stolen from the house.
These included a laptop and charger, three bottles of whisky and a box containing aromatherapy bottles.
CCTV footage showed Thatcher using a brick to smash the glass of a uPVC patio door to get into the house.
He was also recorded in the kitchen area carrying a bag and leaving through the smashed patio door.
Thatcher was arrested by officers from Dover’s Community Policing Team in Bench Street, Dover.
He was sentenced to three years and seven months at Canterbury Crown Court.
Afterwards the court hearing investigating officer, Det Con Scott Ennals said: "Burglary can have a huge and detrimental impact on people’s lives and we are dedicated to bringing offenders to justice.
"Thatcher may have thought that targeting a rural property would be easy pickings but he was clearly identified on CCTV breaking into the house.
"This case should send a strong message to offenders that they never know when they will be caught on camera, arrested, charged, convicted and ultimately sent to prison."
