American celebrity Crystal Hefner made a surprise visit to Dover - and was clearly bowled over by what she found.

Crystal is a glamour model, singer, actor and the third wife of Playboy publisher Hugh Hefner.

She was in Dover today, posting pictures of the castle and White Cliffs to her 3.9m followers.

It is not known why Crystal decided to visit Dover, although she has also been making a name for herself as a travel and fashion blogger.

Her other recent destinations include Paris, San Francisco and Los Angeles.

But the rather more modest charms of Dover clearly didn't leave Crystal underwhelmed.

In one Instagram caption she enthused: "It's hard to do this peaceful and magical place justice."

In another she said visiting the White Cliffs had been on her bucket list. Quoting philosopher Aristotle, she posted a picture of the cliffs and said: "There is something of the marvellous in all things of nature."

Crystal married Hugh Hefner in 2012 at the Playboy Mansion. He was 86 and she was 26.
