A LORRY driver was the centre of attention at the Port of Dover on Monday when his vehicle became the two millionth lorry to use the port in a single year.

Derek Cavanagh set the record when he arrived at the Eastern Docks and was presented a bottle of champagne by the director of port operations, Robin Dodridge.

Mr Cavanagh, 39, who lives at Alberta Close, Dover, works for Clan International Transport Services based at Lydden.

It is the first time that two million lorries have used the port in a year.
