Channel crossings still cancelled as strike continues

SEAFRANCE services from Dover remain suspended as French officers continue to strike over pay.

Operation Stack was implemented on the coastbound M20 between junctions eight (Leeds Castle, near Maidstone) and nine (Ashford) and junctions 11 (Hythe) and 12 (Cheriton) to deal with the vast quantity of lorries but it was lifted yesterday.

A spokesman for SeaFrance said: "Crossings between Dover and Calais are currently cancelled due to industrial action by officers over a range of issues.

"SeaFrance is booking all passengers onto alternative crossings with other operators to ensure passengers reach their destination with minimal disruption.

"We are working to end the action as soon as possible and contact between the parties is ongoing.

"However, the union demands amount to the equivalent of an 25 per cent increase in salary costs over three years, which the company considers excessive and is not in a position to consider."

All passengers with reservations can call SeaFrance on 0871 22 22 500 for further information.
