There have been a number of crashes on Kent's roads this morning as heavy rain and strong winds hit the county.

One car has hit a tree, another has crashed into a lorry and three vehicles were involved in a separate collision.

Meanwhile, Dover TAP has been enforced on the A20 leading to the port, with HGVs being held on the inside lane.

Pictures also show huge waves crashing over the town's harbour as gusts of more than 30mph lash the coast.

The wet conditions make driving more treacherous and there have been several incidents today.

The first was at 9.48am in Sturry when three cars collided along the A28, near the junction with Sleigh Road.

Not long after, a car smashed into a tree in Littlebourne Road, Canterbury, causing the road to be closed.

One person was taken to hospital.

At about 1pm a car and a lorry collided on the M20 between Ashford and Hythe.

Meanwhile, all traffic is being temporarily held due to recovery work after an accident on the A2 at M25 J2 (Darenth Interchange) on the roundabout.

While strong winds can often lead to ferry cancellations in Dover, DFDS is reporting that services are running on schedule.

The rain is expected to continue till about 8pm, according to the Met Office.

Tomorrow will be colder but the skies will be clear and the wind speed will drop.
