FOUR crews from Dover Rowing Club set off from Shakespeare Beach at Dover late this morning in an attempt to set a new record for rowing across the Channel.

They crews set off just after 11am and hope to beat the time set by a Cambridge University team in the summer, of three hours 37 minutes.

Training has been taking place for several months. The crews are escorted by safety boats.
