Organisers of a major fun day are urging people to still attend despite fears of massive road disruption from a nearby protest.
Dover Big Local's event is on around the same time on Saturday as a blockade of the Eastern Docks by environment activists.
The community group has contacted stallholders to let them arrive with their equipment the day before.
And it is encouraging visitors to walk in if they are worried about local roads being snarled up.
Co-organiser Bridgette Lee told Kent Online: "Already we have had two stallholders cancel.
"Be we have emailed the remaining ones to tell them they can come the day before and store their equipment overnight.
"We know local people get fed up with delays to port traffic and lorries spilling over into town roads.
"But they can walk in and bedsides the blockade is 15 minutes' walk away from where we will be.
"The fete will go on as normal."
The Big Local event is at Pencester Gardens.
Stallholders coming the day before can store their equipment overnight at the Co-Innovation small business hub a few dozen yards away.
The annual Big Urban Fete is from 10am to 4pm.
The blockade by Extinction Rebellion is for four hours from 11am.
It will cut off two of the port's primary exit roads and the protesters warn this could cause major traffic disruption in and around the harbour.
Chief Inspector Pete Steenhuis, from Kent Police, said: ‘We are aware of a pre-planned protest scheduled to take place in Dover on Saturday, September 21.
"Our officers are working with the Port of Dover, Highways England and local communities to allow peaceful protest and minimise any disruption to local businesses and the public. Engagement work with the event organisers is also ongoing."
The Big Urban Fete will include music from bands such as the Mad Stones and Crazy Katz and dance troop sessions.
There will also be fairground rides and an estimated 60 stalls.
