A company has to pay more than £11,000 following a prosecution for dumping rubbish including a sofa and children's toys.

B4 Property Services Limited was found guilty in its absence of fly-tipping and was fined £9,000 last Wednesday.

It was also ordered to pay costs of £1,947.33, clean-up costs of £115, and a victim surcharge of £190, making a total bill of £11,252.33, according to court records.

On August 5 last year fly-tipping was reported to police at the entrance to a field off the A2 in Whitfield.

Dover District Council officers found the waste included a sofa, black bags with household waste and children’s toys.

A witness confirmed the vehicle involved had B4 Cleaning written on it.

A registered keeper check found that the vehicle involved was registered to B4 Property Services of Old Park Avenue, Canterbury.

Further inquiries identified that on the date of the incident, the vehicle had been caught on cameras, loaded with the waste found fly-tipped.

The vehicle was also recorded shortly after the incident in the area, without the waste on board.

B4 was asked for interview, but failed to attend, a council statement explained.

When there was no response to a further letter the local authority took the matter to court.

The case was heard at Margate Magistrates' Court.

Management at B4 Property Services say they do not accept the prosecution and KentOnline has invited them to comment further.
