A crash yesterday evening caused long delays for passengers and freight en route to the Port of Dover.

The accident happened about 5.30pm at the Eastern Docks Roundabout. Police closed the road while fire crews freed a driver trapped in his car.

At least two people were taken to hospital by ambulance with suspected minor injuries.

The road was reopened just before 8pm, but port authorities have warned travellers to expect delays.

A spokesman for Kent Police said: “The road was closed to allow KFRS to remove the roof of a vehicle."
