Strike action in Calais which disrupted ferry services all day has now ended.
Passengers looking to cross the English Channel have faced delays all day after the protest began this morning.
Port workers demonstrated outside the Calais Chamber of Commerce - which runs the French port - until 6pm this evening.
There were mile-long queues of lorries on the approach to the port in Calais, and fears were raised that they could become a magnet for would-be immigrants trying to enter the UK.
The industrial action is about proposals to delay a big redevelopment planned for the port, known as the Calais Port 2015 project.
There were limited movements on My Ferry Link and P&O, and delayed sailings between Dover and Calais.
A port spokesman said: "The Port of Dover team and our ferry partners have worked hard to keep the disruption to a minimum for the benefit of our customers and the community in Dover.
"Ferry services from the Port of Dover have continued to operate and the roads in Dover remained clear for the majority of the day.
"However, with limited operations in Calais, ferry schedules have been subject to some disruption and it will take some time for ferries to resume their normal schedule once they have loaded and returned from Calais."
There is freight traffic queuing at the port, but police confirmed Operation Stack has not been introduced.
The port spokesman added: "Customers are advised to allow plenty of time for their journey and the community should consider using alternative local routes to move around the area where possible."
