Firefighters were able to stop a dishwasher fire from spreading at a home in Dover last night.
Smoke began emerging from the kitchen appliance at a house in Astor Avenue at 9.20pm and the occupant was able to call for help just in time.
Watch manager for the Dover station Jamie Muddle said it was a fault with the dishwasher that had caused it.
He said: "The lady discovered it and we were able to intervene quite quickly.
"It was contained within the dishwasher."
The brand of the appliance was not confirmed.
Firefighters left after 20 minutes.
