A 40-year-old man has died after suffering a suspected heart attack while diving in the Channel off Dover.

The man was with a diving party about six miles off the Kent town when he became unconscious.

A spokeswoman for Dover Coastguard said an emergency call was received from the skipper of the dive boat at about 9.30am on Saturday.

The diver was treated by a medic on board the boat but pronounced dead once he had been transferred to shore. His identity has not yet been revealed.
