Dog rescued from fire

A dog was rescued from a fire at a house in Dover early on Thursday.

The owner of the house at Mayfield Avenue arrived home just before 1am to find the building on fire, and dialled 999.

A fire crew from Dover attended and tackled the fire which was in the living room.

Fire-fighter GHordon Stevenson went into the house and rescued a Staffordshire bull terrier that was trapped inside.

Fire damage was caused to furniture in the room, and smoke damage was caused to the ground floor.
