A new block of flats would spoil a "charming street scene."
That's the view of the Dover Society on plans to build six homes on three storeys at the town's Castle Avenue.
The application will be discussed by district planning councillors today (Thursday).
The civic group in its submission said it was an: "over intensification in a neighbourhood that has a particularly charming street scene characterised by large detached family dwellings."
The Society felt one detached house would fit in better.
It also feared loss of privacy for neighbours and parking problems.
A total 25 letters of objection were sent in by neighbours.
They said that parking was already dangerous and problems were worsened by the presence of a nearby school, St Richard's RC Primary.
The application had originally been for eight flats.
Dover Town Council was against that but accepted six.
District planning officers recommend approval of the scheme.
They said that a building of this size and in this location would not look out of place in the overall street scene.
They believed that enough onsite parking was provided and the scheme was an effective use of available land.
Kent County Council's highways department also did not oppose the scheme.
The application will be voted on by Dover District Council's planning committee from 6pm today.
