Soul songstress and former Dover resident Joss Stone paid tribute to the fallen in the Festival of Remembrance at the Royal Albert Hall last night.
Joss, who was born at Dover’s Buckland Hospital, performed in front of the queen and members of the Royal Family when she teamed up with guitarist Jeff Beck to sing the official poppy appeal single for this year.
It’s a revamped version of the song No Man’s Land (Green Fields Of France), which was originally written by Scottish folk musician Eric Bogle in 1976.
The song is a reflection on the grave of a young man, Willie McBride, whose death occurred during the First World War.
The pair recorded it and it was released on Monday, November 3.
