A Dover man has been disqualified from driving for three years after exceeding the legal alcohol limit on New Year’s Day.
Patrick Belsey, 27, of London Road, drove a BMW 320, and when stopped in Buckland Avenue gave a breath test of 112 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath. The legal limit is 35 microgrammes.
A Folkestone magistrate imposed the driving ban on January 14 and fined him £500.
He also had to pay £85 court costs and a £50 victim surcharge. Disqualification can be reduced by nine months if, by February 13, 2017, he satisfactorily completes a government-approved drink-drive rehabilitation course, the cost of which will not be more than £250.
