Police are looking for a motorist who disappeared after their car reportedly crashed into a building and burst into flames.

The vehicle had first crashed with a lorry on the A2 near Aylesham.

Kent Police were called to the accident at 2.48am today.

A spokesman said: "No injuries have been reported. The car driver left the scene prior to police attendance and inquiries are ongoing to locate them."

Kent Fire and Rescue Service also attended and the coastbound carriageway was closed while the flames were put out.

One lane has since reopened and police warned there may be some traffic congestion in the area until the car was recovered.
