Man 'ill and unable to move' calls firefighters to isolate power to cooker hob

A man called the fire brigade out in the early hours of the morning after becoming ill and unable to move.

A Kent Fire and Rescue spokesman told KentOnline on Saturday that the man, in his 50s, had been locked out and had left the hob on inside his Crabble Hill home, Dover.

But this morning (Sunday) watch manager Jamie Muddle, who was there, said this information was partially incorrect.

Mr Muddle said that the man was unwell, and unable to move which prevented him from switching his hob off.

It was previously reported that he had been locked out at 3.10am on Saturday.

The firefighters came in and isolated the power.

Mr Muddle said: "The guy became ill and we had to assist him.

"He was distressed and needed our help, it wasn't a waste of time."
