An 84-year-old father and his 55-year-old son have been jailed today with the heartbreaking words of their victims ringing in their ears.
Perverts Horace Nix and son Malcolm were convicted of carrying out sex attacks in the 1990s.
One of the girls made three attempts to get her sex claims investigated by police – and even called Childline when she was just 11 years old.
But a judge at Canterbury Crown Court heard it was only when plumber Malcolm Nix was convicted of other sex offences two years ago that her attacks were properly investigated.
Now Horace, of Manley Close, Whitfield has been jailed for 10 years, and his son, of Holt Street, Nonington was given a 12-year extended prison sentence.
But before being led away, prosecutor Peter Forbes read statements from two victims and their mother.
In one of them, father and son were described as “monsters” who had caused one of their victims to make a serious attempt at suicide.
Judge Heather Norton said their accounts of their lives after the attacks had been heartbreaking to read, adding: “Both of them have had to wait a long time for this day.”
Sex pest plumber Nix had escaped an immediate jail sentence two years ago for a vile attack on a woman.
But earlier this year he was convicted of eight more offences – and has received a nine year sentence with an extra three years on licence.
Judge Norton told Malcolm he was “devoid of any emotion” and will have to serve six years before he can be considered for parole.
In 2013 police began a new investigation after receiving complaints from two victims who were attacked by the perverted pair.
The two men denied a total of 14 offences but the jury convicted them on every charge after hearing how police found disgusting images of children on Malcolm Nix’s computer.
Mr Forbes revealed how one of the children had made an allegation against Horace Nix in the 1990s after calling Childline.
Charges were never brought after the girl was made to believe the attack was just a dream and she later retracted her claims.
Some years later the victim told how she “freaked out” after watching an episode of the soap Hollyoaks in which the issue of child sex abuse was part of the storyline.
And when one of the victims heard via Facebook about the 2013 sex attack, they asked the police to start a new investigation.
Officers raided Malcolm Nix’s premises and seized a laptop containing 160 indecent images of children after he had searched for the pictures using terms such as “teen nudes” and “Japanese school girls”.
Both men denied the allegations by the two victims, claiming they were “a pack of lies” and Malcolm tried to blame two lodgers for the illegal images. The jury rejected their claims.
