P&O Ferries and DFDS confirm Dover to Calais sailings affected by strikes

Ferry services to Dover have been suspended or delayed due to strike action at the Port of Calais.

The P&O Ferries Travel Updates X account said shortly before 3.30pm today: “Our services are currently suspended due to strike action affecting our ability to sail.

“We are working hard with port authorities to resolve this issue and get you on your way as soon as possible. Thank you for your understanding and patience!”

DFDS, on its updates account, said just before 3pm: “We’re currently experiencing delays due to strike action affecting our ability to load our vessels.

“Please know that we are working hard with port authorities to resolve this issue and get you on your way. Thank you for your understanding and patience!”

One passenger has expressed their frustration over the issue on social media.

Posting a picture on X, the user @BrandHalpin said: “Stuck at Calais trying to get back home. This little group of people with their flags and sun tent are apparently striking and we’ve been told we’re unable to board.”

They asked P&O Ferries: “Any idea when this might be resolved/ come to an end?”

The company responded: “We understand your frustration and appreciate your patience. We’re working with port authorities to resolve the strike action and get you on your way as soon as possible.

“Unfortunately, we don’t have a timeline yet, but we’ll keep you updated.”
