A COMPANY who made staff redundant last Wednesday is to fold.
Dover Town Centre Management made the decision at a special meeting on Friday, 10 days after issuing redundancy notices to the two members of staff.
Lack of finance is being blamed for the situation, with both Dover District and Dover Town councils halving their annual grants to the organisation, resulting in a £10,000 shortfall.
"You can't work without money," said town centre co-ordinator David Somers, who has lost his job along with his part-time personal assistant Sarah Talbot.
"You need adequate funding and the political will in order to succeed, and we just don't have that."
DTCM was set up 11 years ago and has been involved in a number of successful initiatives and events.
Chairman Alan Elcocks said it was a sad day for the organisation.
