Firefighters were forced to investigate a large fire by foot because of its difficult location within woods.

Crews were alerted to the blaze just before 6.20pm when smoke was seen coming from a wooded area in Bindon Blood Road, Whitfield.

Due to the difficult access, they had to find the fire on foot before using a portable water tank with spray and a hose reel to extinguish it.

They left the scene just before 7pm.
