Five fire engines have been spotted in a residential road this evening.
Neighbours in Dover reported seeing crews and police in Folkestone Road just after 6pm.
David Joseph Wright, who is a nearby resident, said he could still smell smoke almost two hours after he initally saw the emergency services but could not see any flames.
“I heard there was a fire so I came over to see what was going on and saw five fire engines, two police cars and two fire and rescue cars,” he said.
“You can still smell the smoke of the fire.
“The fire is now out but they are checking to see if buildings are safe.”
Another resident, who wished to remain anonymous, said: "I heard what sounded like a bang. Then I realised there was a fire.
“It was frightening."
Residents have also reported that Underdown Road is sealed off.
A spokesperson for Kent Fire and Rescue Service said: “Kent Fire and Rescue Service was called to reports of a fire at a home in Folkestone Road, Dover.
“Five fire engines were sent to the building of flats, where crews wearing breathing apparatus extinguished the flames using hose reel jets. Two fire engines remain at the scene.
“No injuries were reported. The cause is not yet known.”
