French strike hitting ferry services

CROSS-Channel ferry services are being disrupted again by a two-day strike by French crew members of SeaFrance.

All SeaFrance sailings are suspended today after the crews walked out last night. Yesterday, some of the crew members had disrupted the Eurostar services by wandering on to the train lines outside Calais.

There could be more disruption for holidaymakers this weekend as they head for the continent for the Easter break.

All this comes less than a week before the new SeaFrance ferry Berlioz is due to berth in Dover for the first time. The ferry is expected to arrive on Wednesday to prepare for its first sailing.

* The M20 was closed at 2pm this afternoon between Junction 11 and 12 as a result of the Kent Police Operation Stack. The closure was due to delays caused by the industrial action at the port of Calais.
