A former GB triathlete is swimming 41 miles around the Channel Island of Jersey this weekend.
Sarah Philpott, 42, of Dover, will take on the challenge on Saturday to raise £5,000 for the Dame Kelly Holmes Trust.
In the 2000s, Ms Philpott was a consistent face on the GB Triathlon Team for more than five years, but up until last year, hadn’t swum competitively for 15 years.
But she retrained rigorously over five months and last September swam the 21 miles across the English Channel.
Ms Philpott represented Great Britain six times from 1999 to 2002 at one European and five World Championships, competing across Canada, Australia, Mexico, France and Germany.
She is a former pupil at Sir Roger Manwood's School in Sandwich.
The Dame Kelly Holmes Trust is named after the Tonbridge and Malling runner who won bronze and gold medals in the 2000 and 2004 Olympic Games.
It is a youth sports charity that uses world class athletes to support disadvantaged young people throughout the United Kingdom.
Ms Philpott has a crowdfunding page to which you can donate for her cause.
