A thief who realised his photograph was in a police appeal has handed himself in.
Officers investigating the theft of a charity collection box from a shop in Burgate, Canterbury on July 29 released an appeal to track him down, which was publicised by KentOnline.
Jason McRobbie, 32, of Squires Way, Dover, subsequently handed himself in at his local police station.
He has now appeared before Medway Magistrates' Court where he pleaded guilty to the Canterbury theft and three others in Dover.
He is due to be sentenced at Canterbury Crown Court on a date to be confirmed.
Inspector Guy Thompson said: "This shows the importance of issuing appeals through local media, social media and our website.
"Often relatives or associates of the criminal will call us or, as in this case, the offender decides to hand himself in at the nearest police station."
