Contestants in a fun dog show will be helping their less fortunate canine colleagues.
The dog show is part of an open day at Frandham Rehoming Centre, Minnis Lane, River, on Sunday, July 27.
The centre takes in neglected and abandoned dogs and tries to find them loving homes.
At present they are full with about 50 dogs.
Kate Harpley, who helps run the kennels, said: “It costs us more than £1,000 a month to feed the dogs and pay the vet bills.
“Nearly all those coming here have something wrong with them or are pregnant.

The open day is from 11am until 4pm.
The fun dog show has a number of classes, including fastest biscuit catcher, child handler and dog the judge would most like to take home.
Other attractions include an assault course, pony rides, a farmers’ market and displays by the police and fire service.
There will be free microchipping of dogs, staff from Animal House vets will be on hand to give any advice and visitors can meet the dogs for rehoming.
Donations of money, dog food, bedding and toys would be appreciated.
