The environmentally-friendly Young Enterprise team from Dover Grammar School for Boys is certainly making a mark.
After winning the Dover district Young Enterprise competition, the team, which called themselves the Green Footprint Group (GFG), have taken the county title and are through to the regional finals.
The young campaigners were crowned the overall winning company at the Young Enterprise county final held at the University of Kent, Canterbury.
The team also took awards for best presentation and most environmentally-aware company.
The group has organised a series of eco events for primary schools, including a day conference which will be attended by MP Gwyn Prosser.
As part of their campaign, sixth-former Jack Williams launched an online petition on the official 10 Downing Street website to persuade the Government to give more support to schools which want to “get green” and recycle.
The students will now represent the South East in the competition’s regional final.
GFG is only the second school team from Dover district to go on to win the county final and compete at the regional final.
The regional final will take place on Wednesday, June 18, in Horsham in Sussex.
