A piece of artwork created by cancer-fighting teen Kelly Turner will be auctioned as part of an exhibition marking the launch of a new art space.
My Gallery, set up by the Dover smART project in 2013, moved from its home at the clock tower in January to a building in Waterloo Crescent.
To mark the move, which has made way for work to start at the port, an exhibition is being held, featuring a colourful piece from the 16-year-old.
A print of her bold work, entitled Peacock, will be on show alongside pieces by 10 other artists between February 24 and March 3 as part of the Friends of Crowsnest display.
It will be up for sale for the duration of the show, with a silent auction starting on the launch evening at 7pm.
Bidding starts at £40 and all the money will go towards Kelly’s fundraising mission for lifesaving surgery in America.
Lori Gausden-Crow from Crowsnest, a company which curates pop-up art shows across the country, said it previously held a Doing it for Kelly exhibition and hopes this next one will be as successful.
She said: “Peacock and four others were exhibited in October. The other pieces quickly sold – this one was kept as a competition prize. The winner has wished to auction it to help raise more money for Kelly.”
