Rail services between Ramsgate and Dover are suspended after lightning strikes damaged signalling equipment.

Replacement buses are being laid on to help stranded passengers and engineers are on their way to the site to examine the extent of the damage.

A spokesman for Southeastern said Network Rail engineers needed to assess the damage before any timescale could be given for services to resume.

It comes after houses were flooded as freak storms hit Kent earlier today.
