A deal has been struck between two logistics companies that will stop additional traffic coming through the Port of Dover – but bosses are not concerned.
An agreement has been made between Neill and Brown Global Logistics and Nellen and Quack The Green Line.
It means that traffic will go through Humber and Hull in the north of England.
Dover Harbour Board chief executive Tim Waggott said: “As Europe’s busiest international ferry port, handling £89bn of trade every year, the Port of Dover has experienced first-quarter growth of more than 11% this year following 13% growth last year.
“Coupled with the potential negative impact that impending sulphur emission control area regulations will have on North Sea ports due to the much longer ferry routes, such impressive growth alongside a stable market share means that any such deals with the Humber ports will not be noticed in the slightest.”
