Douglas Charlesworth charged after damaging sign and abusing staff at Coral in Pencester Road, Dover

A man allegedly assaulted two police officers after staff were abused at a betting shop.

Police were called to a disturbance at the establishment in Pencester Road, Dover just before 6.30pm last Thursday.

It was reported that staff had been spoken to in an abusive manner and a sign had been damaged at the Coral shop.

Officers attended and arrested a man, who is alleged to have later assaulted two officers.

Douglas Charlesworth, 39, was charged with criminal damage, two counts of assault on an emergency worker, racially aggravated public order and two other public order offences.

Charlesworth, of no fixed address, was remanded to appear before Folkestone Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday, May 8.
