A man has been airlifted to hospital after being found lying injured in a road following an assault.

The air ambulance landed in Dover a short time ago to attend the incident alongside ground crews.

Police are also present at the scene in Beaconsfield Road after being called there at just before 10am.

The casualty has been flown to a London Hospital in a serious condition.

Officers are also at a house in nearby Balfour Road, making enquiries related to the incident.

An ambulance spokesman said: "Ambulance services were called to Dover following reports of an assault.

"The air ambulance was called to the scene and one man has been taken to a London hospital in a serious condition."
